Sirens

A 25-minute piece inspired by the legend of the Sirens, combining original texts, choreography and music. It features a live flute interacting with rhythm, aiming to create new relationships among music, language, and the body.

The work seeks to reinterpret ancient myths and highlight modern-day Sirens—women whose wisdom and identities have been marginalized. Drawing from sources like Plato’s “Eight Singing Sirens” and Aby Warburg’s insights, the piece presents a critical analysis of contemporary communication and political issues.

The music combines electronic, industrial, and celestial elements, encouraging observation and participation while exploring themes of temptation and what it means to be human in a world influenced by technology.

The Sirens, often demonized for evoking desire, symbolize the complexities of female identity and cultural heritage. The piece calls for reflection, forgiveness, and collaboration to sustain cultural legacies aligned with the Sirens’ song.
